About Frappr| 1. | What is Frappr?
Frappr is a "Friend Mapper" - a tool that will (literally) put you and your friends on the
map! Frappr helps you map friends, family, fan clubs, business contacts, interest groups,
college friends, videogame players, blog readers, podcast fans, and more! Click here to create your own map - it's free! | | | | | 2. | Who is Matt?

MySpace FAQs| 3. | How do I get a map for my MySpace?
Making a MySpace map is easy! Here's how!
- Go to http://myspace.frappr.com
- Follow the steps in the "Create-a-Map" process. First, you'll be asked for your
MySpace URL. Then, click "Map My Friends"
- Once your map has been made, you'll have the chance to customize it! For
example, you can edit the zoom level, name your map, and select type and size
- When you're finished, click "I'm done!"
- Please note, that if MySpace is slow, and we can't embed your map right away,
we'll keep trying to embed your map for you. Once we get it on your MySpace,
we'll send you an e-mail
| | | | | 4. | How do I get this map off of my MySpace?
Removing your map from your MySpace Profile is easy! Here's how!
- Log into your MySpace profile
- Click "Edit Profile"
- In the section where your map appears (About Me, Like to Meet, Interests,
Movies, Etc.), you're going to have to erase the HTML code associated with
your map. The HTML code looks like this:

- Note that the code starts with a "<" and ends with a "./>" You'll
need to erase all the code between those "carrots."
- Make sure you click "Save all changes" when you're done!

We need your MySpace login info so that Frappr can access your MySpace Profile for
you and embed your map! And, you might also want us to send a bulletin to all
your friends for you, telling them to check out your map! Without this info,
we can't do those things for you. Don't worry! We won't share your information
with anyone. Alternately, you can use the HTML code we give you when you're
finished making your map, and you can embed it yourself, without giving us your
login information. | | | | | 6. | How long does it take for all my friends to show up on my MySpace map?
Frappr will count and display the correct number of friends you have right away.
However, depending on the number of friends you have, it could take several hours,
to a few days to load all of your friends' map markers. Once you create your map,
Frappr reads all of the friends you have displayed on your profile. If you have
thousands of friends, it could take a while! If you have a few hundred friends,
or less, it should take about a day or so for all of your friends to show up on
your map. You can also contact
Frappr Community Support if you have any questions. | | | | | 7. | How do I customize the look of my MySpace map?
You can customize the look of your map when you create your map for the first time.
During the Create-a-Map process, you'll have the chance to set a preferred zoom
setting, choose a map type and size, as well as name your map. If you already
created a map, but skipped the customizing process, don't worry! Just delete your
map (see the question above about deleting your map) and make a new one! | | | | | 8. | How do I let my friends know about my cool new map?
We can do that for you, if you like! We'll post a MySpace bulletin for you once
your map is complete! | | | | | 9. | Can I move, edit, or customize my location on MySpace map? I want my marker right over my house!
Unfortunately, no, we don't yet offer the chance for you to customize your location
on your MySpace map. However, this is something you'll see in the future!

Is your location mapable? For example, if your MySpace location is listed as "West
Coast" or "City of Angels" or something similar, then Frappr will not be able to map
your location for you. Also, please note that creative spellings, such as "lOs
AnGeLeS" and similar spellings may not be recognized by Frappr. Please make sure your
location is a standard, recognizable location. | | | | | 13. | I have a Frappr Friend Map already. How do I put that on my MySpace?
Adding your Frappr Friend Map to your MySpace page is easy! Here's how:
- Log into your Frappr Profile
- Click "My Widgets" at the top of your Profile page
- In the middle of the Widgets page, you'll see your Friend map,
as well as the HTML code for your Friend map on the right
- If you want to, go ahead and customize your widget now, otherwise, go ahead
and "copy" the code, so that you can "paste" it into your MySpace page
- Log into your MySpace account
- Click "Edit Profile"
- "Paste" the HTML code into the section where you'd like for your map to
appear. For example, if you want your Frappr Friend Map displayed in the
"About Me" section, then "paste" the code into the "About Me" box. Please
note that you may put your map in any of the interest boxes you like
- Click "Save all changes" when you're finished!
That's it! If you want to add your Group Map to your MySpace account, then go to your Group's URL and click "Group Widgets." Then follow steps 3-8 above! | | | |

Most Frequently Asked Questions| 14. | Why am I having problems logging in?
We send all new members a welcome e-mail containing their new login information.
Sometimes, this e-mail gets delivered to members' spam or junk mail folders.
If you think you didn't receive it, please check these folders. Your password
might be a "word-number-word" combination, for example, "frappr77frappr" or
something like that, if you're using one of our Frappr-generated passwords.
If you are sure you didn't get this e-mail, just send a quick message to
Frappr Community Support
, and we'll help you out. You can do this by clicking
the Community Support
link at the bottom of any Frappr page.
Sometimes, people don't remember which e-mail they used to register with
Frappr. Your account is tied to an e-mail address. Do you have more than one
e-mail address? Perhaps you registered using a different (work, home, friends,
family) e-mail address.
Also, here are some general login tips:
- Please make sure that CAPS LOCK is off and NUM LOCK is on
- What browser are you using? Please note that Frappr works best on IE
6.0 and Firefox.
- Is it possible that your cookies are not enabled? Alternatively, if you are
using an Internet Security application such as Norton's Internet Security,
MacAfee Anti-Virus, AOL Security, etc, try disabling it temporarily and
logging in to see if the Security application has blocked frappr.com. Many
times these applications just need our site listed as a trusted site, or you
may need to disable the Privacy Controls within the application in order to
login. Please keep in mind that we do NOT recommend disabling your Internet
Security application when browsing the web.
| | | | | 15. | How do I deactivate my Frappr account?
To deactivate your Frappr account, just follow these steps:
- Log into your Profile
- Click "Edit Profile" at the top of your Profile page
- In the Edit Profile window, click "Deactivate Account" in the "My Profile
Settings" menu on the left hand side
- In the Deactivate Account window, you'll be asked to enter your password. So,
enter your password, then...
- click "Deactivate." That's it!

It's easy! Simply add yourself to a Map! Once you add yourself, we'll create
an account for you. Then we'll e-mail you a temporary password, along with
other account information. Or, if you prefer, you can
create an account here.
Your Frappr Profile page contains your Friend Map, a list of your friends,
a list of your Maps that you belong to, as well as other features, such as a
Slideshow, and a chat window. It's important to create a Profile, since
you'll need it to join Maps and create your own Maps in the future. You can
think of your Profile page as your own personal "membership card" that lets
you into Maps, post photos on Maps, and also post messages to Map members
in the Forums area of all Maps!
By asking members to create Profiles, we can better protect you, our members,
from Spammers and other internet foes who like to use sites like ours to
solicit, scam, or otherwise make money off of you. | | | | | 17. | Maps are being added to my Frappr profile without my consent!
It's OK! Frappr automatically adds you to Maps that match your interests. You can
"opt-out" of this feature by following these steps:
- Log into your Profile
- Click "Edit Profile" at the top of your profile page
- In the My Profile Settings menu on the left, click "My Interests"
- At the top of this window, just "un-check" the box at the top that reads,
"Add me to maps that match my interests"
- Click "Save Profile" at the bottom of this page
| | | | | 18. | How can I add myself to a Map?
It's easy! Here's how you add yourself to a Map:
- Log in to your Profile (or, if you don't have a Profile, don't worry!
We'll make one for you automatically when you add yourself to a Map. If
you don't have a profile, just go to Frappr.com, click "Maps" at the top,
then go on to #2 below)
- Find a Map that you'd like to join
- In the "Add Yourself" section on the right, fill out the required information
- Click "Add Me!"
| | | | | 19. | How do I add friends to my Profile?
You must first send a Friend Request in order to add a friend to your Profile.
To send a Friend Request to another member, you should click the link on that member's
profile that says, "Add as Friend." We'll forward your request to that member.
Once your request gets approved, you'll be added as a friend! When someone sends
you a Friend Request, that means they want you to join their Map! Click the link in
the e-mail we send you to see that person's Profile, and to approve the request. | | | | | 20. | Can I customize my Frappr Profile and remove the areas I don't want?
Of course! Here's how to customize your Frappr Profile:
- Log into your Profile
- Click "Edit Layout"
- From the Edit Layout window, you can drag/drop any of the elements you like
- When you're finished, click "View MyFrappr" under the drag/drop section to
see the finished results! If you'd like to add features back to your Frappr
Profile, just find the feature on the left hand side and drag/drop the feature
where you'd like for it to appear on your Profile.
| | | | | 21. | Can I change the layout of my Map? I'm not so sure I want to have a forum/chat/other groups/photos on my Map. What can I do?
Changing the layout of your map is easy. Here's how:
- Log into your Profile
- Click through to your Map that you own
- On the Map page, in the "Customize your Map" column on the right, click "More Settings"
- Click "Edit Layout" to customize the layout of your Map.
- Click "View My Frappr" when you're done
| | | | | 22. | How Do I find a Map or person or city on Frappr?
You can find Maps and people or cities on Frappr by using Frappr's search bar
located in the upper right-hand corner of every Frappr webpage. If you're
looking for a Map about Chihuahuas, then just type that into the search bar!
Frappr will pull up a list of relevant Chihuahua Maps for you. If you're
looking for a friend, type your friend's username (ie., "Frapprjunkie123")
into the search bar, and we'll find .em for you! If you want to find local
Maps, try typing your city's name (ie., Reno) into the search bar, and
see what happens! | | | |

- Click "Save" once you've verified your location in the location field.!
Alternately, you can click "Advanced" under the location field to customize your
location. Here's how!
- Click "Advanced"
- In the location field in the new window, enter your town or city, or US
address. Then click "Update"
- Your location should come up on the map below the field. (Please note that
smaller towns and some suburbs may not yet be in our database. If you can't
find your city using this method, skip to question #27 below). Click around
on the map to move your marker to the desired location
- Once you've found the perfect position for your marker, click "Use
this Location"
| | | | | 27. | I can't find my city/town/village/place using the instructions above. It keeps
putting me in the wrong place. Help!
Don't worry! Your city/town/village/place may not yet be in our database. Just
contact Community Support

- In advanced options you may click on your map to move the marker anywhere
you want
- Click on "Use this location." That's it!
This change will not cascade to your Map profiles if you have joined Maps before
making the change. To change your Map profile locations follow these directions:
- Log in to your Profile
- Click on "Edit Profile" at the top of the page
- Click on "My Map Profiles" in the My Profile Settings menu on the left
- Click on "Edit" to the right of each Map you want to change
- You may now either enter a street address directly and click "save" or
continue on to "Advanced Options"
- In advanced options you may click on your map to move the marker anywhere
you want
- Click on "Use this location." That's it!

Removing yourself from a Map is easy! Here's how you do that:
- Log into your Profile
- Click "My Maps" at the top of your Profile
- In the new window, you'll see all of your Maps listed out. Simply click the
link below the Map that says, "Remove me from __________ Map" to remove yourself
from that Map.

Changing your password is easy! Here's how:
- Log into your Profile

Good question! If you change your e-mail address, or want to use a different
e-mail address for Frappr communication, then you'll need to update your e-mail
info in our files. Here's how!
- Log into your Profile using your old e-mail address
- Click "Edit Profile" at the top of your Profile
- Then click "Change E-Mail" from the My Profile Settings menu on the left
- Enter your new e-mail address
- Confirm your new e-mail address
- Be sure to click the "Change E-Mail" button to save your changes!
| | | | | 33. | I put in the wrong email address when I signed up/I want to change my email address.
No, you do not need to make a new profile or start over. Please follow these directions.
- Log in using the incorrect or old email address and password
- Click on "Edit Profile" at the top of your profile
- Click on "Change Email" under "My Profile Settings"
- Enter your old email once and your new email address twice and click "Save"
to save the changes.

| | | | | 37. | How do I add photos to my blog?
Photos in your blog must be hosted by a third party photo-hosting website. Examples
of these kind of websites are Photobucket.com and Imageshack.com. Once you've
saved your photos to a website like this they will give you a unique URL for each
photo, so that you can copy and paste it into your blog area. Then follow these steps:
- Log in to your Profile
- Scroll down to your blog area and click on "Post New Entry"
- Click on the tree icon in the tool bar over the text entry box
- Go to your photo hosting site and grab the URL of your photo from them
- Paste that URL into the "Image URL" section
- Fill out the Image description and title section and click "Insert"
- Finish filling out your blog text and click on "Post Blog Entry"
| | | | | 38. | How do I add a Slideshow to my Profile page?
- Log into your profile
- Scroll down the page to your photos area and click on "Add a Slideshow to
Myspace"
- Scroll down to the Slideshow and copy the code in the box below it
- Click on "Edit Layout" at the top of the page
- Find the HTML box and make sure it's in your layout already. If it is not,
drag it into your layout where you want your Slideshow to appear
- Click on the "edit" in the upper right corner of the HTML box
- Paste your code into the area provided and change the title of the box if you
desire
- Save your changes and return to your profile page to view
| | | | | 39. | How can I view content on Frappr that's marked as "Adult?"
To view adult content, you'll need to turn off your "Safe Search" feature. Here's
how to turn the Safe Search feature on and off:
- Log into your Profile
- Click on "Edit Profile" at the top of the page
- In the "My Profile Settings" menu on the left, click "Content Settings"
- In the Content Settings box, you have two choices: Safe Search On, and Safe
Search Off. If you want to be able to see adult content on Frappr, then you'll
need to turn Safe Search OFF. This will allow you to see certain pictures or
texts that we have marked as "Adult." If you don't want to see adult content
while surfing around Frappr, then turn Safe Search ON. By turning on your Safe
Search feature, adult content should be blocked, and you shouldn't be confronted
with inappropriate pictures or texts. If your Safe Search feature is on, and
you see something inappropriate, just report it to Community Support, and we'll take care of it!
| | | | | 40. | I've found some inappropriate pictures/text on some guy/gal's Frappr profile/Map!
What can I do? I don't wanna see it on Frappr!
Reporting inappropriate content on Frappr is easy! If you think you've found
something inappropriate, then just take these steps to make sure we do something
about it:
- Scroll to the bottom of that member's webpage or the Map where you found
the inappropriate content
- Click the link that reads, "See something inappropriate? Report it here"
- Once you click the link, you'll be given the chance to report the content to
Frappr Community Support
and include a brief message or description.
| | | | | 41. | How do I send a message to another Frappr member?
It's easy! Here's how:
- Log in to your Profile
- Go to the Profile of the member you want to receive your message
- Click "Message Me" under the member's photo
- Fill out the message box
- Click "Send Message"
- We'll notify that member that a message is waiting for them!
| | | | | 42. | Can I e-mail another Frappr member?
Frappr respects the privacy of its members. Therefore, we will not send e-mails directly
between members. However, we do send e-mails to notify members that they have
Frappr messages waiting. If members wish to share their private e-mail addresses
with one another, they may do so. | | | |

Maps| 43. | How can I add myself to a Map?
It's easy! Here's how you add yourself to a Map:
- Log in to your Profile (or, if you don't have a Profile, don't worry!
We'll make one for you automatically when you add yourself to a Map. If you

go on to #2 below)
- Find a Map that you'd like to join

To unsubscribe from update e-mails, just follow these easy steps:
- Log into your Profile
- Click "My Maps" at the top of your Profile
- In the new window, simply "uncheck" the box next to "Yes, send me updates"
for the Map or Maps you'd like to unsubscribe from. That's it!
| | | | | 46. | Why don't all of the member markers show up on my Map?
To ensure speedy loading of your Frappr page we have set the map to only load
50 markers each time it opens. It randomly selects 50 so that each time you load
or refresh the page it will be a different combination. At this time it is not
possible to alter the number of markers that show, but you can click on the link
under the map labeled "show all markers" to show them all while you're currently
viewing the page. | | | | | 47. | I clicked on "show all markers" and I still don't see my marker.
Your marker may be hidden by another person who lives in your area. When you zoom in
you should be able to see all the markers, but if you live too close together
they might pile on top of each other in the more zoomed out views. We are working
on a fix for this. | | | | | 48. | How do I edit my shoutout or photo in a Map profile?
- Log in to your Profile using your email address and password
- Click on "Edit Profile" at the top of the page
- Click on "My Map Profiles" on the left side
- For each Map you belong to there is an edit button on the right, click on this
- Change your shoutout in the text box and click on browse to upload a new photo
- Save your changes and head over to the group page to see what's changed

A shoutout is simply a message to share with everyone on a Map. Group members can
make their shoutout a personal message, or something like, "Hi Everyone!"
or "I love cheese!" | | | | | 51. | What's a tag?
Tagging your Map or photos means you are adding related keywords that will help others
find your Map or photos in a search. For example, if your Map is all about iPods,
then you can tag on additional words such as "Apple," "music," or itunes." Or, if
your Map is about cars, then you might tag on words such as "Volkswagen,"
"vintage," or "Herbie." This will help people looking for new friends find your Map! | | | | | 52. | I have old Map postings that aren't linked to my account. Can you link them?
Sorry, but Frappr can't link your old postings for you. However, you can add a new

Reporting inappropriate content on Frappr is easy! If you think you've found something
inappropriate, then just take these steps to make sure we do something about it:
- Scroll to the bottom of that member's webpage or the Map where you found
the inappropriate content
- Click the link that reads, "See something inappropriate? Report it here"
- Once you click the link, you'll be given the chance to report the content to
Frappr and include a brief message or description.

To contact the Admin of a Map, click on the "Contact Admin" link near the upper

Frappr will log you in as Admin automatically when you log into your Profile. To
log into your Profile, click "Log In" at the top of the page, then just enter

set up my Map!
If you've forgotten your password, just click the "Forgot your password" link
on the login page. Frappr will then send you your password. If you've

Your Map is automatically added to Frappr's public directory by title and tags.
Anyone who searches for your Map name or tag should pull up your Map. This
may be stopped by going into your permissions area and clicking the box "add
to Frappr public directory" until it is unchecked. You will then be very hard
to find unless someone knows your URL or visits a page of one of your group
members as your icon will be on their page. Frappr has no control over your
group being displayed on search engine results (such as Google or Yahoo.) | | | | | 59. | Can I screen who gets to add themselves to my Map?
Yes, you may make your Map a "moderated" Map, which means "membership by approval only."
Here's how:
- Log in to your Profile
- Go to your Map page and click "Settings"
- Enter a password if necessary
- Click on "Permissions"
- Check the circle that says "Approve new members"
- Save your changes by clicking "Save"

To approve members on your moderated Map, just follow these steps:
- Log into your Profile
- Click through to your Map
- On the Map page, in the "Customize your Map" column on the right, click

Sure! You can replace our Fourm with your own. And, we'll link your Map members to
your Forum from Frappr. Here's how:
- Log into your Profile
- Click through to your Map
- On your Map page, in the "Customize your Map" column on the right,
click "More Settings"
- Choose "Forums" next
- Enter the URL for your external Forum in the External Forum field

Photos| 65. | How do I upload or remove photos from my Profile or Map on Frappr?
It's easy! Here's how to upload photos to your Profile:
- Log in to your Profile
- Click "My Photos" at the top of your Frappr Profile page
- To upload your photo, use the "Browse" bar to find the photo on your computer.
Then, click "Upload Photo.
Here's how to remove photos from your Profile:
- Log into your Profile
- Click "My Photos" at the top of your Frappr Profile page
- To remove a photo, just click "delete" under the photo or photos you wish to
remove
Here's how to add photos to a Map:
- Log in to your Profile
- Go to the Map where you want to post your photos
- Click "Group Photos"
- In the "Share a Photo" box, use the "Browse" bar to find the photo or photos
you want to post
- You can then add a description (ie., "My favorite nephew, Hans!" "My homemade
Rhubarb Pie!" or, if you like, you can add tags to your photos ("Three's Company"
or "Sitcoms,")
- Then, click "Upload Photo."
Here's how to remove photos from a Map
- Log in to your Profile
- Go to the Map that contains the photo to be removed
- Click "Remove" under your photo
- Note that the same photo will *also* be removed from your profile!
